Devon REC's work in the community and with service providers,
often highlights needs which are not met by statutory services
and which give rise to innovative responses. Devon REC helps
people to self organise and fosters partnerships which at first
do not have the capacity to stand alone or which need direct
supervision or specialist input from us. The success of the Olive
Tree Project for women speaking English as an additional language,
the now autonomous Refugee Support Group and the draw down of
the Children's Fund for a major project with traveller and minority
ethnic young people, are all examples of the added benefits of
Devon REC's existence.
